With the Their Bated Breath “Best 15 Albums of 2010” already posted, it’s time to move on to the “Best 15 EPs of 2010”. La Femme’s record, “Le Podium # 1” is just one of a number of albums this year that finds its biggest strength rests in combining an appreciation for older sounds with new instrumentation and style. There’s not much I can tell you about the band, other than they’re French and their lead singer definitely matches the edge the band brings. Thankfully, there also seems to be another trend: soft is the new loud. Musicians like Active Child, and Holy Spirits breath life into intricate layering. The future of music seems in safe hands, with bands you may have never heard the name of yet. Minneapolis’ Is/Is make gorgeous music for those that want to both rock and be swept away.
